Sebastian Skarr Is A Star For LA Harbor Track And Field

Sebastian Skarr has accentuated the first season of LA Harbor College men's track and field with an exclamation mark. 

Skarr captured the 800 meters race title at the South Coast Conference Championships held at El Camino College on April 25. He won with a time of 1 minute, 53.1 seconds. a half-second faster than the second place finisher. His mark is the state's third fastest time this year. 

The 5-foot-11 freshman raced at the Southern California Prelims, earning the top seed going into Saturday's (May 9) SoCal Regional Championships at Bakersfield College. 

At the SCC Finals, Carlos Aguiar scored fifth in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:14.76) and seventh in the 10,000 meters (33:49.63). Miguel Leon placed eighth in the 1,500 (4:03.61).

The 4x400 relay squad also scored eighth. The team placed seventh in the SCC standings in this augural year for Harbor.

WOMEN

The Seahawks first season in the sport featured a South Coast Finals fourth place finish by Angelique Morales Cortez in the 1,500 race (5:08.81) and a fifth place by Natasha Arriaga in the 800 meters (2:23.91). 

Jacqueline Gonzalez was seventh in the 800 (2:29.17). The 4x400 relay squad scored sixth with Arriaga, Gomez, Morales Cortez, and Alijah Stewart.

Harbor placed seventh in the SCC standings and participaed in the SoCal Prelims.
