Men's and Women's Track and Field Added to LA Harbor Spring Sports In 2026

Los Angeles Harbor College has added both men's and women's track and field teams for the 2026 spring sports season, directed by 3C2A state champion head coach Geoff Skarr.

Skarr, who was inducted into the LA Harbor Athletics Hall of Fame last year, brought the Seahawks to prominence in women's cross country when the squad won the 2018 state team championship behind individual race champ Brenda Rosales Coria, the CCCSIA Women's Athlete of the Year for all sports in 2018-2019. He arrived at Harbor as a head coach in 2016.

Skarr's teams won three straight South Coast Conference team championships from 2017-2019. Coria was twice a SCC individual champion in '17-18. Then both Marai Antanacio (2019) and Sherlyn Gomez (2024) also were individual women's champions.

With the addition of track and field, Harbor College now has 11 sports under athletic director Leslie Trujillo's leadership.

"We're very excited to add to our spring sports especially since Coach Skarr has been so successful in cross country for us," Trujillo said. "We have the usual spring sports of baseball and softball but we wanted to give our student-athletes an opportunity to be involved intercollegiately in other sports. With the addition of track and field, I think it's good for not just us as a program, but for the conference as well."

Skarr's assistant coaching staff includes Brandon Bernasconi, at LAHC for the past eight years, and also coaches at Mary Star High School, and Brandon Thomas, a 2025 CIF State champion coach at Servite High.
