LA Harbor Ace Lucas Bauer Helping Baseball To Improved Start In 2026
Lucas Bauer, a sophomore transfer pitcher from Pennsylvania, has helped the LA Harbor College baseball team to a big improvement from last year. Bauer was recently named CCCBCA SoCal Pitcher of the Week (Mar. 2-8).
The Seahawks are 8-15-1 overall, but that win total already matched the '25 team's production and the squad's 3-6 mark in South Coast Conference play (currently seventh in the 9-team league) is far better than a last-place 1-23 last year.
Bauer has been sensational in his last two starts. On Mar. 5 v. Rio Hondo, Bauer, a 5-foot-11 righthander who played at NCAA Division III Allegheny College and Saint Mary's High, struck out 14 Roadrunners batters in six innings of 1-hit shutout ball, receiving a no decision. He was part of a remarkable LAHC combined pitching performance of 23 Ks in a 6-5 victory in 12 innings.
Second baseman Seth Rodriguez hit a walk-off single in the 12th for the game-winning RBI while Ronnie Ogusuku hurled the final two innings, blanking Rio Hondo on two hits with two Ks for the relief victory.
Bauer followed up his next start by stunning the state's #4-ranked and SCC leader El Camino, 6-0, on the road on Mar. 12. The fireballer tossed a complete-game, 2-hit shutout, allowing two walks and two hit-batsmen while striking out nine Warriors. He had a no-hitter going through six innings, including setting down 10 in a row until the no-no was broken up on a seventh-inning, leadoff double by ECC's Nathan Rivera.
In that win, First baseman Sam Arredondo launched a solo home run in the seventh and rightfielder Branden Lepe was 2-for-4 with a RBI.
Currently, Bauer (2-2 record) is third in the conference in lowest ERA at 3.03. His 41 strikeouts in just 35.2 innings is third in the SCC. Bauer is on a streak of 25 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
The Seahawks won their first SCC 3-game series since 2024 in taking two of three from Rio Hondo (Mar. 2-7). Third baseman Aiden Brasher knocked in three RBI while designated hitter Christian Hernandez drove in two including a run-scoring double in the series' opening 5-2 win. Utility shortstop River Martinez was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, then pitched two innings of 2-hit, 3-strikeout ball for his third save.
On Tuesday in non-conference game, Hernandez (2-for-3) singled up the middle to tie it in the top of the ninth, but host Irvine Valley scored the game-winning run on a bases loaded box to edge LAHC, 5-4, in 10 innings.
Centerfielder Ben Reynolds was tied for the conference lead in stolen bases with 15 while Arredondo was second in the SCC in home runs with four as he is batting .271 with 12 RBI and four doubles. Hernandez, an All-SCC Second Team at utility as a freshman, leads the team in ribbies with 14 and among regulars leftfielder Andres Roman was leading the team with a .284 batting average. Martinez leads the Seahawks in runs scored with 19.
Besides Bauer, Harbor also has two other key starters in Aaron Alba (38 strikeouts in 37 innings) and Ryan Torii, who is 3-2 with a 4.84 ERA in 35.1 innings.
Harbor, directed by Marco Alvillar in his 25th season as head coach, next plays at Irvine Valley again on Wednesday, Mar. 18, then return to conference action with a 3-game series v. state #30-ranked Cerritos next week (Mar. 24-28).
